ABEX is committed to providing a firm foundation for the expert witness’ work, underpinned by essential principles:

Reliability and rigour: Each member expert witness is carefully selected by the Admissions Committee on the basis of their proven skills, integrity and compliance with the highest professional standards.

Professional ethics : Compliance with strict professional rules of conduct guarantees the reliability and impartiality of ABEX-affiliated expert witnesses.

Professionalism and excellence: ABEX supports its members throughout their careers by offering them specialised training courses and helping them to continually upgrade their skills.

This makes ABEX a key player in the structuring and development of technical and judicial expertise in Belgium, guaranteeing a high level of competence and professionalism in order to serve justice and society.

As a Professional Association and Royal Society, ABEX sets out to:

Oversee and promote the work of technical and judicial expert witnesses by defending their interests and cultivating their status in society.

Establish and guarantee strict professional rules of conduct to ensure the quality, credibility and impartiality of the expert reports drawn up by its members.

Facilitate access to knowledge and training, largely via the ABEX Academy, to allow expert witnesses to keep abreast of legal, technical and methodological developments.

Encouraging exchanges and networking between its members through professional events such as the Expert Witness Lunches, the Expert-Magistrate Dinners and mentoring as a means of sharing experience and building relationships with judicial players.

Simplify access to expert witnesses for magistrates, court clerks and other judicial players, thanks to a database using the same nomenclature as Belgium's national register of expert witnesses.
